Giuseppe Rizzo ha conseguito la laurea specialistica in Ingegneria Informatica nel 2008 presso il Politecnico di Torino e, nel 2012, ha conseguito il Dottorato di Ricerca in Ingegneria Informatica e dei Sistemi, svolta in collaborazione tra il Politecnico di Torino e EURECOM (Sophia Antipolis, Francia), discutendo una tesi sui Sistemi di Estrazione della Conoscenza da Dati non Strutturati e la loro Classificazione attraverso Ontologie Distribuite.

Nel 2008 ha collaborato per 8 mesi con il dipartimento di Automatica ed Informatica del Politecnico di Torino come Assistente Ricercatore, mentre dal 2011 al 2015 ha lavorato in EURECOM ricoprendo I ruoli di Ricercatore Post dottorato, Ricercatore Associato e Ricercatore Permanente. Dal 2013 al 2014 ha anche collaborato con il dipartimento di Computer Science dell’Università di Torino.

Da novembre 2015 è ricercatore in ISMB, dove ricopre il ruolo di Senior Data Scientist nell'Area di Ricerca Innovation Development. La sua principale attività di ricerca è quella dell'estrazione di entità dal testo attraverso l'uso di modelli linguistici e semantici basati su basi di conoscenza.

Giuseppe Rizzo has obtained his master degree in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2008, and in 2012 he defended his PhD on the topic of “Knowledge Extraction from Unstructured Data and Classification Through Distributed Ontologies” as joint collaboration between Politecnico di Torino and EURECOM (Sophia Antipolis, France).

Prior to be enrolled to the PhD program he has been appointed as Assistant Researcher at Politecnico di Torino, in the Computer Engineering Department for 8 months in 2008. From 2011 until 2015, he has been in EURECOM as Postdoctoral Researcher first, Research Associate then and Permanent Research Fellow. He also collaborated with the Computer Science Department of the University of Turin from the 2013 and 2014.

Giuseppe joined the Innovation Development team of ISMB as Senior Data Scientist in November 2015. With his expertise, he is leading the Data Science research line in exploring the topics of Knowledge Extraction, Knowledge Population, and Semantic Analysis fostering the future cognitive systems.
