8 March 2018

CALIBER - CompAct eye-safe LIdar source for AirBorne lasER scanning - project aims to develop a novel efficient and compact laser source for a Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) system. .

Its peculiar properties and small volume of about 1 liter make this source suitable to be installed on small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for surveillance of sensitive areas such as energy infrastructures, earthquake areas and coast and arduous terrain.

CALIBER is a two years project funded by NATO - Science for Peace and Security Programme. The project is carried out in collaboration between Italy as NATO country together with NATO Partners countries Israel and Finland and it brings together heterogeneous and complementary expertise of four research centers: ISMB (project coordinator), Politecnico di Torino, Ben Gurion University (Israel) and Tampere University of Technology (Finland).
