LEB (Local Energy Balance) is a project developed since 2001 by the Politecnico di Torino, within the Department of Energy, in cooperation with Enea. In the 2014 the Istituto Superiore Mario Boella joined to the collaboration. The project create a new methodology for the construction and analysis of territorial energy balances and the goal of the Institute's involvement is to develop a prototype that uses the methodology in question through the Cloud Computing technologies.

In the project, the Creativity & Design Innovation Re4searc Unit designs and prototypes the data visualization for the Local Energy Balance initiative: this first steps translates into the web domain and enhances with more flexibility and interactivity existing design patterns and visual metaphors. Future steps will develop more disruptive and innovative solutions and interactions.
