FLOODIS Project Selected for Exhibiting at the European Civil Protection Forum

22 April 2015

FLOODIS is one of the 20 research projects selected by the European Commission for displaying at the European Civil Protection Forum (CPF), a two-day conference and an indoor and outdoor exhibition, under the central theme of “Partnership and Innovation”, which will take place in Brussels on 6 and 7 May 2015. This represents the largest recurring public event on European civil protection cooperation and is organized every two years by the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO).

The event brings together the European civil protection community to take stock of common achievements in the disaster risk management field, share best practices and ideas, and discuss ways of addressing new challenges together.

The project will be presented by Fabrizio Dominici, Claudio Rossi and Vito Macchia from the Mobile Solution Area, together with the deputy director Research Areas Paolo Mulassano. FLOODIS is a collaborative European Community project coordinated by ISMB, funded under the Seventh Framework Programme to provide a flood information service that aims at better addressing and mitigating crisis situations arising before, during and after heavy flooding. It focuses on the integration of satellite navigation technologies (E-GNSS), earth observation (Copernicus EMS) and real-time warnings provided by citizens and civil protection operators through the mobile sensing paradigm.
