ISMB's Contribution on Cloud Computing at CloudCom 2014

CloudCom is the premier conference on Cloud Computing worldwide, attracting researchers, developers, users, students and practitioners from the fields of big data, systems architecture, services research, virtualization, security and privacy, high performance computing, always with an emphasis on how to build cloud computing platforms with real impact. The conference is co-sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), is steered by the Cloud Computing Association. CloudCom is taking place in Singapore from 15th to 18th of December.

At the event ISMB is one of the protagonists, through the presentation of a paper authored by researchers at the Advanced Computing and Electromagnetics Area. The Institute is represented by Lorenzo Mossucca from Infrastructures and Systems for Advanced Computing Research Unit. The speech will take place on Thursday 18th December during the session “Emerging Issues in Cloud”.

The paper, which is entitled “Cloud platform for scientific advances in earth surface Interferometric SAR Image analysis”, describes a case study to migrate an advanced Differential Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry methodology to a cloud environment for the investigation of Earth's surface deformation phenomena. DInSAR processing chain allows producing deformation velocity maps and the corresponding displacement time-series from a temporal sequence of radar images.
