FINESCE Open Day & Project Meeting

2 December 2014

ISMB is participating in the Future INtErnet Smart Utility ServiCEs (FINESCE) open day and consortium meeting, which is held from 2nd to 4th December 2014 in Horsens (Denmark).

Today the FINESCE open day at the Horsens trial site offers first hand insight into the workings of the Insero Live Lab, which involves 20 families in the village Stenderup situated nearby Horsens, just as there will be relevant information for entrepreneurs and start-ups regarding the possibilities of receiving support and participating in the FIWARE Accelerator Programme. This event offers a demonstration of the intelligent control of the energy equipment, and it is also possible to visit some of the participating families, hear about their experiences and see the various installation types, e.g. the revolutionary sun well (a combination of a solar heating system and a geothermal heat pump with vertical drillings).

At the project meeting, which will take place on 3rd and 4th of December, a researcher at the Advanced Computing and Electromagnetics Research Area will illustrate the new software component integrating the next generation smart meters, based on DLMS/COSEM protocol, with the service-oriented event-driven Cloud-based Future Internet architecture and e-Marketplace FI-WARE. The new software layer making interoperable the Automated Meter Reading component and the Advanced Metering Infrastructure is implemented by using the IDAS Backend Management component of FI-WARE (Generic Enabler). It is an important technological step because it makes possible for meters to interact with event-driven Cloud architectures. This solution will pave the ground for the analytical accounting of electrical energy enabled by the ISMB patented (WO2012090169) meters.
