ISMB at the IoT360 Exhibition and Hackathon

24 October 2014

During the upcoming international summit IOT360, dedicated to the Internet of Things, that will be held in Rome during the 28th and 29th of October 2014, the ALMANAC European project coordinated by ISMB will have a booth stand for the entire duration of the event. At the booth, ALMANAC will exhibit the prototype developed during the first year of the project, which is useful to show how the ALMANAC platform addresses the issue of waste management and water supply in a smart city context. The event is sponsored by the European Alliance for Innovation (EAI), with the patronage of the European Commission Representation in Italy.

Moreover, within the context of the IOT360 Hackathon scheduled for Saturday, November 1st, ALMANAC will coordinate a development contest on the subject of waste management. To this end, the project will provide participants the necessary technical support and access to the existing software components, thus providing all the essential tools to develop one or more innovative applications for the management of waste collection, guaranteeing also the engagement of citizens in the smart city governance processes. For the winners of the Hackathon sponsored by ALMANAC, cash prices will be made available to the first and second (1,000 euro for first place, 500 euro for the second and 250 euro for the third), along with other prizes and gadgets.

Finally Maurizio Spirito, head of the Emerging Trends and Opportunities Function, will take part in the event as coordinator of the Activity Chain 3 (AC3) "IoT innovation and pilots", as part of the European Research Cluster on the Internet of Things (IERC), which is responsible for supporting the cluster participating projects in the demonstration of their results and research activities.
