ISMB Joins to the FINESCE Project

ISMB won the open call published by the Future INtErnet Smart Utility ServiCEs (FINESCE) project and will present the Institute to the other partners involved in the initiative during a meeting, which will take place from 10th to 11th of June in Aachen (Germany). On the 12th of June ISMB will also participate in the FINESCE Open Day, set up to demonstrate the trial site in Aachen of a smart utility where energy production of volatile renewable energy is interconnected with energy consumption in a smart e-car factory.

As new full partner, ISMB will cooperate with the Italian companies Teamware srl, Engineering spa, ASM Terni, and other project partners to create an Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system that will exploit the capabilities of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) utilizing the DLMS/COSEM protocol suite. An innovative, reliable, scalable and secure solution, based on open standards to facilitate the exchange of near real-time electricity metering data will be built. The system will be setup on the FI-WARE infrastructure and will be integrated with the Terni trial site in Italy. ISMB builds on the know-how related to true real-time AMR and the use of innovative event-driven and cloud-based architectures, thanks to the contribution of the Advanced Computing and Electromagnetics Research Area.

The FINESCE project is currently active within the Future Internet Public-Private Partnership (FI-PPP) of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), funded by the European Commission for research, technological development and demonstration activities contributing to the creation of the European research area and to innovation (2007-2013).
The objective of the FINESCE project is to transform energy infrastructures towards smart energy systems by trialling communications network enabled applications using common functionality provided by the FI-WARE project, developing novel service layer enhancements encapsulated in the FINESCE-API, and by enabling the development of innovation opportunities for ICT and utility actors, as well as in the community, providing new services.
