EFITA2013: Sustainable Agriculture through ICT innovation

The conference “EFITA2013: Sustainable Agriculture through ICT innovation” - www.efita2013.org/web/ held in Turin, from June 24 to June 26, 2013.

EFITA2013 is a joint conference of three associations, EFITA, WCCA and CIGR VII sponsored event. All these associations deal with the future use of ICT in the agri-food sector, bioresource and biomass sector.
This will be as well the focus of this conference.

The conference started with a plenary opening session to introduce two keynote speakers on the first day, talking about sustainability issues and the EU vision of sustainability in the new EU research program named ‘Horizon 2020’.

ISMB, represented from the research area PerT, be present with two papers, which describe two distinct activities in this context funded projects.

The first "The ebbits platform: leveraging on the internet of things to support meat traceability," describes the application scenario of the project ebbits on food traceability and cold chain management.

The second, "The PigWise project: a novel approach in livestock farming through synergistic performance monitoring at individual level," describes some of the key results of the project PigWise , which aims at the optimization of some processes of intensive farming.
